Nafplion, Nafplio, Anapli, Nauplie, Nauplio, Nauplion - a Magical city steeped in history.

When Greece was liberated from the Turkish the first named capital of the country was Nafplion. The occupation of the Franks, Ottomans, Venetians and Turks have all left their mark on the beautiful city and monuments and historical areas of interest are plenty. Visit one of the three castles of the town, the Palamidi which overlooks all of teh area from teh top of the hill, Acronafplia and the Bourtzi Castle situated on the small island in the middle of the harbour. Visit one of the many museums: the Military museum, the Folklore museum, the newly re-opened Archaeological museum in Constitution Square, the Worry Bead museum and the Ouzo museum. See the church of Saint Spyridon where Ioannis Kapodistrias was assasinated, the 'Voleftiko" (Parliament building) where the first governement of free Greece convened, the Land Gate, First High School and the Trianon. See many tributes to famous revolutionaries throughout the town and be sure to take the 'Arvanitia Walk' at least once during your stay in Nafplion.

There are two beaches in Nafplio, Arvanitia beach which is considered to be the town's beach and somewhere to take a quick swim and Karathona which is a superb secluded bay with a long curved sandy beach. Karathona is well set up for tourists with all amenities necessary but still remains unspoilt and unbuilt.

In Nafplion and closeby it is possible to take part in a huge variety of activities, in particular watersports such as sailing, windsurfing, scuba diving, waterskiing, boat rental and kite surfing and in addition to the wonderful archaeological interest of the area such as Ancient Tiryns, the Ancient Theatre of Epidavros and Mycenae one is also able to take a day cruise from the harbour to the islands of Hydra, Spetses & Poros. For the more adventurous try your hand at bungey jumping over the Korinth Canal, go-carting, Loutraki Waterfun Park amd for nature lovers there are organised walking trips, wine tasting, ouzo tasting, home Greek cookery lessons and many other things to occupy your time in Greece
